The
Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the Water Framework Directive
(WFD) are two of the major policies in Europe influencing strongly
environmental issues. Within this sixth
Framework Programme (FP6) project, Ecologic and the Warsaw Agricultural
University (SGGW) analyse the legal and organisational linkages
between both policies in order to elaborate future synergies. The
results of the analysis will be presented at the stakeholders and
policy makers Conference "WFD meets CAP - Opportunities for
the future".
The
Conference on CAP&WFD hosted under the EU presidency of Austria
will provide a forum to discuss open questions on the linkage of
CAP and WFD. One key objective of the conference is to further strengthen
the dialog between experts, policy makers and other relevant stakeholders
in the field of WFD and the CAP from the EU-25 Member States and
the European Commission. The Conference aims at identifying recommendations
on the possible synergies while implementing, planning, financing
and controlling the various requirements of the WFD and the CAP.
